Finding motivation

Can you believe it’s already September? Well almost October. Time seems to be on a sprint. I’ve been in full-on holiday mode lately and have yet to accomplish much. I’ve watched documentaries, read a bit, tackled everyday chores, and cared for my beloved pets.

But what I really should be doing is getting back into some exercise routine. Even just a daily walk would be a great start. Here’s the catch – I find it incredibly hard to walk alone. It’s funny because I used to have a dog who needed loads of exercise, so it was a no-brainer; I had to walk my dog. But I seem to lack motivation when it comes to walking just for my health. It’s a bit sad, I know. Why can’t I do it for myself? I’ve tried telling myself I should do it to feel better and be a better mom, but that reason hasn’t been enough to kickstart my motivation. It should be, but it’s not.

With my premenopausal state, I’m dealing with many symptoms – sweating like crazy, sleep troubles, mood swings, you name it. I know that exercise could be the remedy or at least make these symptoms more manageable. So why the heck can’t I get up and do it? I need that dog back!

What gets you motivated to exercise? Please share your secrets! There may be something I haven’t thought of that could kick my motivation into gear.
